In preparation for the coming busy spring schedule with 4 home games and a road game, Executive had a discussion about taking some of the workload off of the shoulders of the Captain on game days so that he can focus on leading the team on the pitch.

As a result, it is being proposed that a new Executive position called the Director of Rugby be created. The Director will work closely with the VP Fixtures and the Captain regarding all operational matters related to club activities.

The purpose of the position is to manage a safe and fun environment for all players while challenging individuals and team to a play better standard of rugby.

Job Description

  • Manages all training and touch rugby (on field )
  • Manages all game day player selection
  • Manages playing time of players through Sideline Managers

One of the first tasks of the new Director will be to identify individuals willing to be game day Sideline Managers to maintain order on the bench and to oversee player substitutions in a fair and orderly fashion.

In order to create this new position there needs to be a Special General Meeting (SGM) to:

  • pass a motion to create the new executive position of Director of Rugby; and
  • to hold an election to fill the position.

As with all executive positions, nominations can be made in advance or on the day of the SGM.

Accordingly, notice is hereby given that the SGM shall be held at 6:45pm on Thursday March 9, 2023 in the upstairs room of the Bent Mast pub in James Bay.
